Rebuilding vs. restoring

I just ran across a chapter in "The American Reed Organ" entitled
"Restoration" that discusses rebuilding, restoration and renovation.
Apparently others have this same dilemma of the 3 Rs.

REBUILD - Major repairs...(that) require a level of effort beyond mere repair.

RESTORATION - (beyond rebuilding)...implies preservation, faithfulness
to the original in appearance, materials and workmanship, reversibility
of repairs and documentation of work done.

RENOVATION - Similar to restoration, but with improvements added to make
the instrument more suitable for present-day use.
