The pianos you describe are a LU11 built in Thomaston GA. in 1989, and a Japanese 6' built in 1970 . I would order 1 string from Schaff (they have the scale on file for LU11 as well as all other built-for-the-US-market-Yamaha pianos) and see if that solves the problem.
