Flordia Fiasco

1630-something. About the same time (1634) as the infamous collective
hysteria ("the will of the people", as expressed in today's rhetoric) that
resulted in the burning of Father Urbain Grandier in Loudun, France. K.
Penderecki wrote a chilling operatic version of the story, based on a
scholarly work by A. Huxley. Ken Russell did a film on the story. Mass
hysteria is always a frightening thing. McCarthy, Goebbels, Clinton, Mao.
It's all the same. Diversity means diversity. But, most have not the courage
to allow it, let alone defend it with their lives. "Let every vote count" as
long as it agrees with those in power seems to be the standard today.

Respectfully,
Robin Blankenship
CPO, United States Navy (Retired)
