Dear Melissa, You'vw gotten alot of advice already. IF moving to study is NOT an option, certainly the Potter correspondence course is highly recommended, to be supplemented with attendence at all PTG events (local, regional, national seminars) and apprenticing with skilled technicians in your area, etc. It seems many on the list are averse to formal courses of study. Perhaps it's just that we're a nonconformist bunch! IF you're ready to go to school (again) the North Bennet Street School in Boston is your best bet. They have a one year program covering the basics of tuning, repair, and regulation, which can be supplemented with a second year which concentrates on rebuiding skills (replacing pinblocks, soundboards, etc.). Their instructors are top notch; it's certainly the best program available. Good luck! Patrick Draine Billerica, MA
