Some of those pianos do come from Aspen. We had a similar sale at my
dealer(I work for them). The Bostons I tuned really seemed to have been well
used and in practice rooms.I found a few candy rappers and even some
cigarette butts. But I have to agree many of the pianos in the sale were not
from Aspen. And the special Art Case Aspen L is still in our showroom, and not
in Canada. In regards to that those are limited edition comemorative pianos.
On the subject of University sales,I am not completely comfortable
with the ethics involved. We sell these pianos without a free tuning after
delivery because they have supposedly been mantained by the University
Technician.Yeah right.....even if that is true for some, most of the pianos we
sell are brought in from warehouses and some are rigth out of the crate. What
happens then is the piano is not even tuned untill 3 or 4 months after it is
in the home and a music teacher or some other expert questions the quality of
the tuning.I am then forced with a pitch raise and other repairs and I am
supposed to charge the customer(at a discount mind you)for something that
should have been done at least twice.
We sell alot of pianos this way and I am afraid that is all that
matters to the owner.I still would not reccomend buying a piano from us
there.Go to one of our stores and work with a salesperson and wait a week or
two for delivery so we have time to prep it properly.
