Pitch raising on older pianos

Kristinn,

I could be talked into agreeing at least partially with you. Sometimes there
seems to be no indication that a string is going to let go, but other times,
well, it just seems like the elasticity in the string is totally gone, like the
string really does not want the pin to turn anymore, and THAT is followed by the
bang. Is that what you are talking about?

But in some cases, that rebellious string just has to move more for me to get the
string in tune, and it doesn't always break. Just the imagination? Maybe yes,
maybe no. Maybe just tight tuning pins. I'm not sure I can tell the difference.

Regards,
Clyde
