Compression Ridges

Hi Joel
I'm a rebuilder, maybe I can help. <G>
On the List a while back, Frank Emerson mentioned the EMC level that they
dried the boards to, but I don't remember the exact figure. I was thinking
it was 4.5%, but I wouldn't swear. I asked if that meant compression
crowned boards, but I didn't get an answer. Meanwhile, at Arlington, I
learned that the boards are indeed rib crowned, five different radii,
progressively tighter in the last five treble ribs. That being the case, If
the board isn't overloaded with excessive bearing, the compression ridges
probably aren't anything to worry about - ever. If the local humidity
control is wretched enough, the board may crack, but it has a very good
chance of maintaining a crown for a very long time. Check in with M&H about
any potential future warranty claims that may evolve from this. That gets
you on record early and informs M&H of something they need to know too.
Reports I've heard are that they are very easy to work with.

I wish I could have gotten that A in Arlington someplace quiet to listen to
it. From what I could hear over the noise in the hall, I liked it.
