A customer called to have his piano tuned but said the last tuner would not

pianos should not be tuned at A-440. Thank you for your help. Pat Neely >>

There are several factors that will determine whether or not a piano should
be brought up to A440, and there have been many articles and posts written on
this subject. But despite all that has been written, there is one that seems
to be prevalent in the "real" world. There are tuners out there who are not
skilled enough to know how to raise pitch on a piano. And therefore, they
will tell a customer the piano cannot be brought up to A440. Or the tuner is
too lazy to work at bringing it up to pitch.

So when you look at the piano, and don't see anything that would indicate the
piano shouldn't be up to pitch, go ahead and give it a pitch raise, and make
the extra money.
