Had the Australian Piano Quartet playing in Darwin on Wed. night, want = the piano touched up at 7:15 PM prior to their performance. Their next = performance is in Alice Springs, Thurs. night. 1,500 kilometres away. = Piano has to be tuned at 3 PM prior to rehearsals. Plane is booked out = so hop into car and drive. OK had a snooze on the way, blow out front tire 70 K out of Alice, = arrived half hour late. The piano in Alice is the Yamaha CF that I have mentioned before as = having a humidity problem thus I thought I would make mention of the = results. You may remember that I fitted a double tank, four heater Dampp-chaser = system to this piano, then had a full length (to the floor) cover made = and fitted. The piano was basically in Pitch. Retuned all 5 pianos yesterday and compared pitch variations with each = other. Yamaha CF same pitch 2 Yamaha U1 uprights pitch drop of 15 cents 2 Young Chang baby grands pitch drop 15 cents in one and 23 cents in the = other. Pitch mentioned measured at E3. All pianos tuned within the last six = weeks. One of the Young Chang's was moved from another area to its new location = prior to its previous tuning which would explain why one dropped more = than the other. Alice humidity at that time ? didn't check it, but its low at this time = of the year, about 6%. Only the Yamaha CF is fitted with a Dampp-chaser system obviously = discussions are taking place but the reason I am mentioning this is (and = not being overly scientific) is that Stability can and has been = achieved.
