Not trying to be obnoxious here, but is there really a good reason to have that spring there in the first place? I've seen numerous pianos, where the spring has been removed, that seemed to function quite well. I've also seen many pianos without any such spring to begin with. I realize that if a technician "changes" it, that it won't be "original" anymore. But I've wondered if the piano might be better off without it. ?? Sure would put a lot less pressure on the poor underlever tray (or whatever of the 27 names you want to call it). Just wonderin' out loud. Any thoughts received with an open mind...
