After schlepping the salvaged mirror around for a dozen years or so (5 moves/2 states), about five years ago I found that it was just the width of the fireplace mantel in my current home. It's amazing how much light a couple of Christmas/votive candles will throw with a five foot wide sconce mirror behind them!
