How poorly I understand your post. If you measure from the rim top to the
plate for the perimeter (which is what I do - only I usually just use a
block of wood), why does it matter whether he case is refinished? Regarding
nose bolts, you  measure from the top of the plate to what? And why do you
measure nose bolts? I always adjust my nosebolts based on my final plate
position. Could you please elaborate? Thanks.
