hardware plating

Ahhh. Thanks. Mine may have sounded like a dumb question, but I had only run
across brass so far. Although, on the brass-hardware-pianos I have done, the
lyre rods have been brass plated steel. I simply replaced the rods with new
from the supply house. Is solid brass too soft to use successfully as a lyre
rod?
