We have a fellow from Stavanger, a city a few hours south of here that was a very accomplished tech for many years do exactly what you refere too. He went to the Yamaha factory in Japan for a year. He loved the expererience. I am sure that Schimmel and some of the other German factories are fine places to gain valuable expereince... but be prepared to work your patoootey off...:) There is also a very fine masters school in Switzerland you might check out.

I need to learn specially in grand pianos. I think the best place is the technician´s school in Hamamatsu, from Yamaha, but I would like o know as well another possibilities. Do you know any factories that offers a good and fast apprenticeship service? Steinway is a dream, but I think they accept people only if they are very very good (and i´m not yet...). How about Mason & Hamlin, or Schimmel... Please, note I´m not new in this proffesion, I have some experience. Any recomendation?
