Gee. I am six-foot even. I tune all pianos from a sitting position. No troubles. I do stand on the side of a tall upright (52" and taller) for the undampered treble area. But I sit for everything else. Except for some grands on a church stage that have their treble ends RIGHT at the edge - then I stand on the step below! I should think that you tuning an upright from a sitting position would be akin to the average Joe/Josephine sitting and tuning a studio size. Maybe it is something besides just the height???
