I have found over the years that in most cases, the quality of the piano is
directly proportional to the owners expectations of it.

Since we work with many quality instruments and have a critical ear, it is
easy to loose sight of the fact that most customers are much less diserning
than we are. They love their pianos and wouldn't trade them for anything. If
the piano is functioning as well as can be expected, it is best to avoid
giving your unsolicited, unflattering opinion. It will serve no purpose
other than to offend.

As for her pianist friend, if they have been around the world of pianos,
they will most likely recognize this piano for what it is. If not you can
deal with the facts of her piano IF you get the call, which you likely
won't.

Next, you need to relax, take a deep breath and learn to take these pianos
in stride. There will be many of them.
