Seriously, You're exercise was a great idea. Lot's to learn in disecting an old upright, and look at all the screws you now have ! Break up that plate and bring it to a scrap iron - junkyard type place. Or better yet, half bury it in the yard and plant morning glories around it! Good luck, Tom Driscoll
