treatment for arthritis/hand pain

I don't have any letters after my name, but I've always thought that a piano
bench is for playing the piano not to tune. I have a stool that I found at
a garage sale for about a dollar. It was just the bottom of a stenographers
stool with four casters. I used a short piece of one inch water pipe, and
made an adjustable stand inserted in the vertical member. Then I made a 12
inch round plywood seat cushioned and covered with naugahide and attached a
plumbing flange to the bottom and used 3/4 inch pipe to drop in the 1 inch
pipe. I usually have this set at about 24 inches. This is what I use to
tune in my shop. I've considered taking it with me but since I don't tune
much (2 or 3 a month) I don't bother. It allows me to see better when
muting the high treble.
