Newton, I think I'm gonna' try replacing that block. I think I can get it to touch in more than three places:) I'm still wondering about that wedge. I'm familiar with wedges and how they fit. I either tape them in or tap them in after several unisons are strung, but this one fits so loose you can pass it completely through the gap. There are marks on all four faces of the wedge, and none are distinct enough to indicate the original orientation. I'm just going on the recollection that all of the wedges I've seen have the bigger dimension parallel to the belly rail. It's possible that the wedge was originally sideways and the last shop turned it 90 degrees. That would explain marks on all sides. This looks like one of those jobs where the surprises never end.
