It seems to take the process out of the realm of the When I joined in 1984 you took the written test *first* to determine the level at which you joined the PTG and if you passed the written test the other RTT members would discuss your character privately and vote on whether you should be accepted into the chapter. Then in order to stay a member if you weren't an RTT (at that time) you had to take the bench and tuning tests within a certain time limit and weren't allowed to advertise membership until you'd passed them. Mind you, the Guild was more of a true "Guild" at that time. With no standards for joining anymore it's turned into something more like a user's group as has been mentioned many times before. Why even bother voting prospective members in at all if they don't have any standards to which they must adhere?
