Carl, I'm not quite following what you are doing. I guess I need a picture. It's almost clicking, but must be the hour or the senility kicking in. :-) Another thing that hasn't been mentioned by anyone is, are you air nailing the tuning pin WITH the wire attached or without? As I always use a tuning pin crank to wind the coil, BEFORE I pound the pin, this is, I think, an important factor. I know that a lot of techs pound the pin first and then STRUGGLE to get the wire wound on the t.pin. IMHO this leads to beckets all over the map, so I do it the other way.
