I've recently retired from an 18-year stint with a local college. They
had been experiencing some financial difficulties in the later years,
thus their responses to my invoices were becoming less and less prompt.
When the music department chair proved to be unable to help, I finally
called Accounts Receivable who reported that their policy is to "try to
pay within 60 days."

Last September, they asked me if I'd be willing to do stay on another
year. I told them about tunings going back to the previous January that
I still hadn't been paid for and that evidently they weren't "trying"
very hard to write that check.

I understand that the new tech, with the blessings of the music
department head, sends them a bill for a group of pianos. When the
accounting dept. sends the check to the music dept., he does the tuning.
