New hammers for Hamilton school piano

Yeah yeah yeah yeah ... hiss snarl and growl ... we all have our opinions
about these ubiquitous pianos ... but here we have someone trying to make
the most of what would otherwise be a hopeless situation. Let's just hope
for the sake of our technician enquiring about which hammers to use that
this particular Hamilton doesn't have the glue joint failure problems. If
it does, may she have a case for a) procuring the necessary funds for fixing
those problems or b) scrapping that piano altogether and advising the
administration on a more suitable replacement.

I'd be curious about how successful this technician is in finding a
cost-effective way in mitigating the awful brightness of the basic Hamilton
tone, as she put it. Her efforts may make life a little less miserable for
the rest of us who encounter those things.

Farrell... (why does that name remind me of some eastern european one ring
circus...? grin) I see we are in agreement on yet another issue... wow !!
thats
three in one month !.. I havent seen a Baldwin Hamilton I liked in the last
75
years... and I am not even 50 yet.. Still... I wouldnt call them the worst
things I have ever seen. You guys probably never ran into an Etude, or a
Westfallen. Wonderfull things... pull them out of the box and the
soundboards
start cracking up. I saw one where 2 hours after pulling in out of its
plastic a
couple ribs litterally exploded... what a noise.... Hamiltons are not my
favorites... but you guys aint seen nothing... oh yea..... you had something
called a Jarsper or something like that a few years back...
