About $650 for the best strings (I use Sanderson), rescaled (Sanderson also), and tuning pins. Oh, and while you have the strings off, check the bridge pins. Ooops, loose eigh? Cracks in bridge also? Hmmm, might as well recap bridge then - that will allow you to set your downbearing optimally. 'Course, while you got all that apart - 90 year old piano? - sounds like time for a Bolduc or Gravagne soundboard. And certainly you don't want your tuning pins to pull out after two months! Might as well replace that old pinblock and tighten up the frame at the same time! Now you've got a restringing job! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stephen Airy" <stephen_airy@yahoo.com> To: <pianotech@ptg.org> Sent: Monday, May 28, 2001 7:51 PM Subject: breaking strings > After 3 broken strings in 6 months, I think the time > has come to consider restringing my piano.
