Expanding Lead/solution

All,
Someone asked how to solve the problem of lead expanding. My solution, such
as it is, is to trim/sand the lead flush with sides of the key. Be
absolutely sure you have eye, ear, nose throat safe guards, as lead is a
VERY NASTY substance to breath or ingest!!!!!! After I have done that, I
coat the lead with epoxy, which seals it. I have done several olde British
Uprights, with this problem, and have not had a recurence of the problem.
