Kevin,
Urea formaldehyde is a polymer. As far as I know, it will remain just like
it is forever, no matter what you do to it. Sorry, that's no help, but
that's why modern luthiers still tend to use hide glues. If you ever do run
across a workable method, I'd sure be interested in the information too.
