<< Here in North Dakota it can
get and stay below zero for several days at a time. It can be as low as
-40F. How low can the temperature go and stay for extended periods of time
before it becomes harmful to her piano? What precautions should be taken
to protect the piano from the cold?>>

Greetings,
Bill Garlick was in charge of the hotel in Canada many years ago, and they
closed it down in the winter. The Steinway upright in the lobby didn't show
any damage, and it got that cold. Bill said it was surprising how close it
came back to in tune each spring when they opened the hotel.
It is important to not let the piano change temperature quickly, so some
blankets over it should help.
Regards,
Ed Foote RPT
