Hi Terry,

I have read many of the posts on this thread.

New hammers ... period.

First take your finger nail and pluck the top bass string and bottom
middle section string.  Pluck at proportionally the same location.  If
you get a major difference in tone then you have soundboard/bridge
problems.  

If they are about the same the issues can be handled.

Check for unlevel strings, a very common problem with this vintage.

Hammers:

	Check weights of several hammers.
	Check up and down weights (as discussed before)
	Measure for bore distance.

	Order either Isaac or Abel according to weight needed

	Have them bored at 89 degrees, not 90 degrees. (factory spec)
	Hang them at 89 degrees (tip toward keys)

Level strings.

Regulate, tune and voice.

The likelihood is that you will be stunned what can be made of the
piano.  

Ye gads, those jolly green giants or such crap.

It is the hammer that brings out the soul of a piano.
