I am refering to the felt on both sides of the board. FOr that I have used spring rail felt but it has been pointeed out that that material is "weak". FOr the 'conector' I have used butt felt available in strips. If you glue material on both sides of a wide board the put a similar board underneith you can cut the width on the bandsaw and have really nice clean trimmings. Lots of ways to do this, of course.
