THe spring rail felt (or whatever) is the universal joint between the damper felt and board. The butt felt is only between back of board and block. I have some spring rail felt and some name board felt. I am going to glue both between some sticks and when dry test to see of there is sufficient stringth for this purpose since I am looking at doing a set for an old S&S K soon. Timely discussion no?
