I bought a 1901 Steinway upright a few years ago for $600. It had been recently refinished in black laquer - acceptable job in good condition. Piano works, but I will be gutting it (someday) completely and rebuilding it. I too wonder what one of these (or my 1912 Mason & Hamlin upright) will sell for when completely rebuilt (new board, action, etc. - everything)??? I should think a piano like that would easily be worth $12,000 to $15,000, but the question is, what would someone pay for it?
