Gould liked to play deep into the keys (toward the fallboard).  Removing =
the fallboard kept him from bumping into it.  He also may have felt that =
he heard the piano better with the sound coming out through the action =
cavity unimpeded.

  I was just seeing the video where Glenn Gould plays the Bach's =
GOLDBERG VARIATIONS.
  I was surprised because the piano is without the fallboard. The piano =
is a Yamaha because when the camera shows over the soundboard we may to =
see the name.
  There are some reason to this other than don't show the name of the =
piano?
