Raising from 435 to 440 is a tension increase of about 2.25%. Should be
fine, but then it may not be fine at 435 either. We pays our money and we
takes our chance.

On the new stainless steel wire: who's going to wind your bass strings with
this core? Just a passing thought. And yes, I'd think choice of wire should
be made for a reason relating to scaling, rather than shooting from the
hip. Higher tensions mean more sound, or "power", requiring stiffer
soundboards for the impedance balance.

Is that a start?
