Has anyone thought of deliberate piano implosion? That's right - deliberately weaken the structure, and finish the job with some carefully placed explosives, thereby using the energy from the string tension to cause the piano to fold up on itself with a minimum of flying parts. If done properly, the pieces would be conveniently small enough to fit into conventional trash barrels. This idea occured to me as I drove around the site of a housing project implosion last spring, marvelling at how neatly the remains of the buildings were piled together. Z! Destroyed. Do not contaminate the block with anything. One fine day we are going to build that piano launcher and bring it to Fort Henry to bury it in a watery grave.
