Hi Dianne
I know your post was off list but Pacific piano has pre-cut sets of =
beatiful tokiwa felt for about $75.00 I've used dozens of sets. There =
is enough felt to felt any size grand piano.

  Subject: Off list-thanks and question

  Roger,

First I wish to thank you for your thoughtful post to pianotech about =
humane ways of dealing with this terrible situation our country is in. =
It seems so easy to lash out in anger, but matters only get worse when =
we do so. I just hope that a way is found to deal with things =
constructively so that from this tragedy comes some kind of good. If =
that could only be done, then I think you could truly say that this is a =
great nation.

Second, a piano technical question. On your advice, given quite some =
time ago on pianotech, I sent away for Yamaha damper felt for the =
Steinway grand I am rebuilding. All the bass dampers are now ready to =
go back into the piano, but I am mystified as to what to do about the =
treble dampers? =20

In the past I have used Laroux felt and the trichords and flats have =
worked together well and I have been able to cut them to the same =
configuration that was on the piano previously. However, with the =
Yamaha felt, the flats are sewn in the middle. If I keep the flats the =
full width that they are, then the damper heads will have much longer =
pieces of felt on them than they did previously and will dampen the =
strings at different node points than they used to. Do you think this =
will cause me a problem with the dampening?

  Thanks for all!

  Diane
