Clyde the Klutz pianos came from a "rebuilding" facility in, I think, NC. 
They used to buy old uprights by the carload and 'restyle' them.... most with 
mirrapiano cutdowns and some with new legs, etc. Typically these thingees had 
some new stuff, like the bridle straps you mentioned, sandblasted actions for 
cleanup, hammers were 'usually' filed, backs spray painted to hide 
dirt/dust/grime. The typical selling price for these Klutzes was around 
295/395 dollars here in Jacksonville.
