There are different systems of transposing pianos.
One system I know about is the shift system. The keyboard can be moved =
to the left or right (with levers),  allowing the key  to be potitioned =
unther  different notes and so giving the possibility e.g.to play music =
that is written in D major while using the notes of lets say C major.=20
Was that meant to avoid the use of sharps?
There are several other systems but I forgot how these works. You can =
find good information about transposing pianos in Rosamund Hardings book =
the piano forte.
