Hi All, I saw a piano today and noticed that the pins and strings looked coroded (not rusty) and after questioning the owner found out that she originally lived in Rhode Island near the water. I know the salt water in the air tends to corode things (you can see it in the trees on the coast). I was wondering what long term or short term affects this would have on the piano. One other thing I noticed was that the tuning pins were moderately loose. The piano is only about 15 years old and the pins seemed too loose for that age. Maybe its a brand issue or maybe it had something to do with the corosion? The piano is a Diapason (made by Kawai). Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lanie
