If you can't scribe a line, do whatever scribing possible, measure the rim thickness (at glue joint) and tape that much plus a hair for insurance. I suppose you could always touch up any small ring around the rim of unfinished board - or not.

Just curious, what is your schedule/materials for finishing the board?
