If you've managed this much without instruction and without mucking it
up then your boss was perhaps justified in placing his trust in you. In
anycase, I'd take it as a good sign.

I think you have to remember here that these stop rails have to be able
to stop the hammershank under a fairly heavy blow as well as light play.
In the PianoDisk variant you are simply forced to accept an early letoff
situation. The trick is always to get it as tight as possible to usual
play while maintaining its function. Boring holes in the plate in order
to get the stop rail closer sounds like you are attempting to get it too
close to work. These installations vary to some degree from piano to
piano, and from system to system. Sometimes you have to improvise to be
sure, but believe you will find it best to always look for the least
intrusive solution you can find.

You are right in the middle of Seattle, and when I left there my brother
was training a replacement for his buisness at Sherman Clay. He
installed all their Piano Disks for several years. He's gone now, but I
am sure there are a couple fellows there what might have some good tips
and advice for you. Call Sherman Clay and ask around.

Also, if you find all this interesting work... then I would recommend
investing in the training seminar.
