Creak

If I may preface my comment with a spelling correction, I think that the
"creek" is really a "creak". In this context, I would like to offer an
observation on a lester Baby Grand with a "creak" in the soft pedal.

i serviced the piano quite thoroughly and on retuning I discovered a "creak"
when the soft pedal was pressed. After lubricating the bed, the lyre rods,
the lever mechanism, i still had the "creak". Eventually I found that the
"creak" was the back of the key frame rubbing against the sostenuto rod made
of wood. A little sandpaper on the rod eliminated the "creak".

Don't know if this pertains to your "creak" but it was a new one on me.
