I guess I didn't explain that right. I did keep the hammers of the shank. 
What I meant to say is that I had to remove the shanks and flanges off the 
rail again to shape the tails. I remove the shank and flange when I remove a 
hammer. I don't like to subject the center to any more contortion than 
necessary.
