A look at Kimball's website reveals that Kimball has completely abandoned the piano or anything related to musical instruments. They don't even make piano cases anymore the way they did for a while after stopping their piano production. No matter what you may personally think about Kimball pianos, the fact is that what they built will be around for a long, long time. Their back structures, pianblocks and soundboards were built for longevity. The hammers and other action parts can be replaced and the backs can be restrung and even rescaled. I'll bet nothing they build today will ever last as long as their pianos and they hope nothing will either. Otherwise, there won't be a market for their products. I hope Baldwin takes all of this into account because they have essentially run into the same problem.
