Learn to tune aurally enough to at least start with the machine in a temperament octave (F-F or A-A, whatever). Then tune up or down, your choice, but at least you can check what you're doing that way. I use an SAT also (I tuned aurally for about 20 years before I bought it!) but there are pianos out there that need more "adjusting" than the machine can give! You can't do that if you start at bottom and go to the top!!!!!!! I don't know where you live but try to find someone to help you learn to tune aurally. At least enough for you to check what the machine tells you! Pay them, if necessary. And for a good aural tuner, it probably will be! :-) Good luck. Avery
