A convention held at a piano trade school, or at least near one like North Bennet School, would seem to be a win/win situation. Of course, there would a lot of logistical hurdles. I imagine more so than having the convention at a hotel. But for the attendees, and the school, there could be benefits beyond the scope of most conventions. The advantage to the school would be that it would have an infusion of money that it would not usually have. With piano technology departments closing like Red Wing, and Western Iowa Tech, etc., piano technology schools can use all the money they can get! Additionally, schools like North Bennet Street School, offer work shop programs. It could additionally benefit from some of the convention attendees returning to their school for one of these workshops. Piano tech instructors at the school may have the opportunity to make some extra money if they were allowed to participate/instruct at the convention. For the attendees, opportunities that are not possible at "regular" conventions would be possible. Full convention length "hands on" classes on refinishing, soundboard, pinblock, or bridge replacement might be offered. This could be worth exploring! Just a thought! Devlon
