On my piano, I would like to replace the entire set. I've had several bass strings break, with a few splices breaking also, but I've only had one plain string break - the wire that makes the right string on Middle C and the left string on C#-4. It broke at the bridge on the Middle C side. I replaced all the strings for those two notes, and I can definitely tell those two notes sound quite a lot better.
