What NY are you comparing the Renner to, NYI or Pre84? Using Hamburg 
(Renner) parts in place would sure tip the leverage downwards. There 
should be no difference going from NYImproved (NYI) to Renner.

Are you speaking of how the cross-section of the shank influences the 
flexibility (and thus activity) of the shank? Sounds a little like, 
will a bass string ring more evenly on a hexagonal core than a round 
one. You remember that one don't you, Joe.?
