Greetings,
Um, well, those taut-line hitches were in my Boy Scout Leader days, I
don't use them anymore. I use three of the easily adjustable nylon
tie-downs, which have their own cam-stops,(you can buy a pack of three of
these at a Target or Wal-Mart store for about $15 or so). There are large
steel hooks at each end and any one of them is strong enough to lift a plate
by itself.
These things are great. I do use three loops of very soft nylon rope
around the plate struts and put the tie-downs between them and the hoist.
Then as the plate is lifted, and if you need to let out slack on one until it
lifts evenly, all you have to do is hold the free end and press the button.
Regards,
Ed Foote
(and I don't miss sleeping on the ground or the burned baked beans, either)
