tied bass string winding peeled back

Hi Ron,

You mentioned you can't hear any particular difference in such a string.
Today I came across just this situation with a client. It was easy to tell
the difference in tone color...just play 17th's (or 10'ths depending on
pitch) chromatically. You will hear quite a different sound on the tied
string.
