Lanie,

Most Steinways I see advertised for private sales start out at least double what they're worth.  Here's the latest, from our Sunday classifieds:

STEINWAY BABY GRAND - IN YOUR HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!  ENJOY the incredibly rich concert hall sound of a 1939 S-SERIES STEINWAY, with original ivories, and sound board.  One-family-owned, heirloom, must be heard to be believed.  $30,000.
